The story of the Garden of Eden in the biblical book of Genesis is a Christian doctrine that claims that Adam and Eve, God's first human creation who lived in a paradise called Eden disobeyed God by eating from the tree of knowledge (of good and evil) which God forbade. Doing so exposed their nakedness causing them to feel ashamed and ultimately as punishment forced out of the Garden which is the representation of "the fall."
As the story goes, amny Christians believed that Adam and Eve's actions corrupted the entire world and as a result cultivated the origin of sin for which human beings are born into and suffer pain, sorrow, create from the sweat of their brow, and cannot enjoy eternal life as they would in heaven without the grace of God.
During the Renaissance period, Protestants believed it was Jesus, as the Christ and savior, who gave his life in sacrifice for this original sin of man and was the second Adam.
